Who from the porn press was at Cameron Reid’s press conference last week?

Opinion/Editorial

I ask so I can see who the people are who never reported to their own industry Cameron’s claims that he was told there was a third person who had tested HIV positive.

I also want to know who in their right mind wouldn’t go prepared and record the entire event. This is a huge story and none of you, who actually went, recorded it. And don’t tell me how your silly little recaps are enough. AVN gave this so-called detailed account of what happened. But now it comes to light that many of you kept out a very important key fact where Cameron claims he was told there was a third person who tested HIV positive. This one being a second crossover.

This is also the same porn press that did nothing and sat by six months ago watching Steven Driver on the edge of a cliff during an eight-hour standoff after he killed Tom Dong with a samurai sword days earlier.

Why wasn’t anyone from the adult industry living in Los Angeles there near the cliff covering the case as it was happening? I know it’s morbid. But if you cover the industry whether you’re a writer or a photographer, you should have been there. Anyone in the industry should have been there. It’s is your own backyard and no one thought to maybe drive by during the eight hours he was there? Because the only reporting and pictures from the scene was done by the mainstream news press.

If I lived out there, I would have been there. I would have looked at the cliff and started to feel guilty wondering what the hell am I doing there. But anyone covering the industry & actually lives in Los Angeles should have been there. You would have had first hand knowledge of the case instead of the version the mainstream media and police had put out.

You know if Luke Ford was still in the industry, he would have been there the entire time and probably been out there looking for Steven the week prior to the police forcing him off that cliff after tasering him. It’s one of the biggest stories in recent years touching on many different topics happening right now in the industry. With all the photographers and press on the scene during the eight-hour standoff, it just surprised me that none of them worked in the adult industry.

This industry does more press for the newest sex toy & the latest movie release while actual news is usually overlooked because it might shine a negative light on the industry. You can’t get a press pass to attend a press conference while calling yourselves a journalist but fail to mention one of the most important announcements mentioned during that press conference.

  1. No one… because no one was invited. You have to know about a press conference to show up for one.

  2. Sorry, just read the rest of the article.

You’re assuming that the adult industry gets the same information that the mainstream media gets, but why would they? It’s like the panel discussion, no one informed the people who could actually do something from the adult community. The L.A.-based porn industry isn’t an all-knowing killing machine, the way some fanatics suggest, and the actual new sources that would be available–AVN and XBiz–probably had no idea what was going on because they are not treated like mainstream new sources are. People who know police activities probably don’t have AVN and XBiz on their speed dial, or they would have been there. I could be wrong, but I’m just saying…

AVN and XBIZ are trade magazines. Thelevel of ‘journalism’ from these two trade rags is minimal.Thier knee jer kbias in favor of the porn industry makes them the equvelant of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Their is no objectivity in their ‘reporting’, if thats what you call it. To this day mark kernes keeps repeating the dental dam, eye goggle thing, BUT if he actually would read the AHF proposed changes to the OSHA standrds he would see that dental dams and goggles are SPECIFICALLY LEFT OUT. Why would Mark Kernes keep mentioning them when they are SPECIFICALLY left out of the AHF proposal? Has he ver even read their proposal? If no he is being anegligent reprter, and if he has, then he is puposly misrepresenting what is in the proposal. And these are the guys you look to for infrmation? If thats the best the industry has, well then you aint got much.

JULIE, as someone who as written alot about this issue, have you ever actually read the AFH proposal, which specificaly ELIMINATES goggles, and ELIMINATES dental dams? Why do you think Mark Kernes keeps mentioning these things in every article he writes on the subject, when it is not true?

    Julie,
I guess Marcus didnt notify anybody in the adult press either. After all, he was on the panel from the beginning.

AVN was there considering their long detailed account of that press conference. It’s just shocking that the only word of Cameron saying another crossover is HIV positive came from RadarOnline, a mainstream entertainment news site. Whether Cameron is telling the truth or not, the fact still remains that he told the news conference that a second crossover is HIV positive and no one in this side of the industry said anything. I first looked around at many of the other porn sites to see if they said anything before I put the EXCLUSIVE title on it. No it’s not exclusive to me but I’m the first porn blog that mentioned it. Now after all these days passed, the only other porn blog that mentioned anything is Adam Wilcox at:

AVN is completely slanted and one sided. I’ve seen it so many times where they flat out lied about things. I stopped going there for news. I use to go only for their picture galleries but I’ve noticed they let go of all their photographers and get their pictures from other sites. So I only go to AVN for pictures. But why go there instead of the sites where they get their pictures from now? I go to XBiz only for their tech/online stories. And I go to XFanz for their video interviews. But for actual news from those three, very rare. AVN also deletes many of their stories. I have countless broken links on both my blogs. Text doesn’t take up much bandwidth at all. They even delete their videos too. What’s the point of having a site if you end up deleting much of it throughout time?
